Farin: Transitioning from Child Labor to the Classroom

Nine-year-old Farin grew up watching her parents work long hours as daily-wage manual laborers in Sangam Vihar. With five children to feed, educational expenses were out of reach for the family. Farin's desire to study was consistently deferred due to immediate survival pressures. "Every time I asked to go to school, my parents said we could never afford the expenses. I always wanted to study and build a better future." The DWO education team visited Farin’s home during a community mobilization drive. When her parents initially hesitated, the team invited them to visit the local NFE center to observe the cost-free, child-friendly learning environment firsthand. Reassured by the model, her parents enrolled her immediately. Farin is now thriving in her foundational classes, preparing for admission into a formal government school with aspirations of pursuing public service.
